Learn About Music Instruments

I wanted to find out how much set of violin strings cost. I want something for average tempoed (is that a word?) music. Also, how much does rosin cost? And can a bow be restringed (or do I buy a new one, I am attached to the one I have)? How much is a tuner [not a pitch pipe]. I have kind of lost track with these things. I haven’t played in 3 years.

I paid $12 for four strings on a 3/4 violin. but they offered a range from $12-$48. Rosin was about three dollars and the Violin was $400.00., new.,
The violin depends on the maker and quality etc.
I paid thirty dollars for a tuner.
You can get used violins on EBay or in a pawn shop or from Suzuki association or look in the local paper.
The bow can be restrung but it cost more than a new bow. I paid $50 for a new bow.

I know it’s a very advanced instrument with eastern scales and is usually tutored by a master Sitar player, but since I can’t study music in india and i don’t know any sitar heroes in my neighborhood, I wonder if anyone here knows of a good sitar-instruction website?

EDIT: Look dear just understand my point if at the time of crises if investor of other country can take back their amount from our market (like investors of USA did and we know what is the result) dan why cant we do this? I have been a Trumpet player for almost 5 years now, and I need some help in order to increase my range, but at the same time keeping a good tone quality. I have a 5C mouthpiece right now, and i am possibly thinking about buying a 3C Bach. What is the best way to solve my problem?

For warm-ups low, soft and slow is the general rule. The amount of time you spend warming up depends on you–some people warm up quickly, others take a while. Anyway. start with a low "C", play softly and hold the note as long as you can and maintain a good tone. Then go to a "B"–"Bb"–"A"–etc until you get to low "F#". Go back up to "C" the same way you went down to "F#" and repeat as necessary. Once your lip feels loose start playing more quickly up and down chromatically, slurring your notes. Add a note every 3 or 4 cycles until you are eventually playing up to a 3rd space "C". Personally, I never play a noet higher than 3rd space "C" during warm-up. Then I start warming up my tongue. I single tongue between low "G" and 2nd line "G" chromatically, gradually adding a note to the top and losing a note at the bottom until I’m doing cleanly playing a tongued chromatic scale between low "C" and 3rd space "C". Then I do runs of double and triple tonguing between 2nd line "G" and 3rd space "C". I’ll then work on pedal tones (below low F# down to the "C" below middle "C". All this takes me between 30 and 45 minutes.

Now, about increasing your range. I don’t believe you need to practice playing high to be able to play high. Instead, you need to work on increasing lip flexibility by playing a lot of lip slurs and learning to do it quickly. You also need to work on octave jumps–once again learning to slur the octave quickly and cleanly. (20 minutes or so a day is a good place to start.) You also need to learn how to move a lot of air. Good physical conditioning is important (an old method book says running a mile every day is the first step to being able to play a double high "C"), but so is good posture, proper embouchure, holding the horn correctly and letting the air flow up freely from the bottom of your lungs out the horn. This isn’t about playing loudly, rather it’s about playing with control, it’s about supporting the column of air with your diaphragm.

Regarding your mouthpiece change. It may or may not help. You can look at some of my other answers about changing mouthpieces. But basically, never change your mouthpiece unless you know why you’re changing, exactly what you want to accomplish and what mouthpieces are likely to accomplish those changes.

You bend notes by when you change the angle of the airflow when blowing through the clean note. This lowers the pitchn not raising it.

You can find lots of instruments on EBay, some very reasonable. You can’t play them beforehand, which is a problem. And often they are sold by people who don’t know anything about them, which is why sometimes you can get a huge bargain, sometimes not so much.

If I saw a flute I liked on EBay I would write the person and ask them to promise that if I bought it and I didn’t like it I could return it. Or else look only at ones in your own neighborhood that you can go and see in person. (You can sort EBay to show entries sorted by distance to you).

Craigslist is another place to look, and that is local, so better.

If you live in or near a big city you might look at pawnshops. Most cities have one neighborhood where all the pawnshops are, so you can just walk down the street and ask at each one. You might not want to walk around this neighborhood all by yourself. 8^< Or after dark. But there -are- some bargains to be had.

Again in a big city, call up instrument repair shops. They often have instruments for sale.

I’m not sure of the spells name and no it isn’t in the books but the spell itself makes whatever goes in the cabinet pass through safely to the other cabinet which is being stashed at Flourish & Blotts i believe it is, so that Bellatrix & Fenrir Greyback can pass through to Hogwarts.

Is there even such a function in Casio Pianos? I like playing one part with both of my hands and then play another one and combine the two, WITHIN the piano. Is this possible, or do I have to attach my piano to my computer and just combine different parts one by one?

If you have a professional synthesizer you should have an on-board "sequencer" function that will allow you to record overdubs to create multiple layers. It’s far far easier to do this sort of work through a computer sequencer program (like Digital Performer or Garage Band).

With regards to your particular Keyboard: see if you can find the instruction manual online for all the little tricks it can do….
